AAS Engagement Web Series – Summary of First Two Webinars
We are very pleased to report that the first two installments of the 2009 AAS Engagement Web Series have been a success. In putting together the presentations and setting up the webinars online, we were unsure about how they would be received by the participants and how well the technology would work. We knew that we wanted the webinars to be a resource to those in the advancement of higher education by showing how real data about alumni attitudes and engagement trends could be useful in various actionable ways.
Thus far and based on feedback from participants, we think things are going pretty well. We are very grateful for those who have attended and invite anyone who is interested in learning more about how alumni think on specific matters such as communication, loyalty, programs, etc. to participate.
Summary of Participant Feedback
Some of the highlighted feedback from the first two webinars is as follows:
- AAS Research Data. Participants have been extremely complimentary on the use and effectiveness of the “real data” presented to support the topics chosen. For each webinar so far, we have been able to create a unique and new way of looking at the data. We are able to apply this analysis in addition to our previous analysis to offer a more in-depth look at alumni trends and attitudes in different engagement areas.
- Overall attendance. We have had over 60 Higher Ed advancement professionals attend the first two webinars. About 50% of the attendees have filled out our post-webinar feedback survey.
- Structure of webinar / Interactivity. We are consistently improving on the structure of the webinar to continue to try to make it as interactive for the participants as possible. Along with presenting our data, we want to allow attendees the chance to express their ideas and share their anecdotes with other advancement professionals that participate in the event. Many participants have participated in the “open discussion” format and have been able to voice their opinions/experiences on the subject matter being presented. While the technology is not perfect yet for this part of the webinar (as noted in the feedback) this part of the webinar allows others to learn from their peers and share individual successes.
- New webinar topics. Included in the post-webinar feedback from participant, there have been several great recommendations for new topics to host webinars. We encourage our participants to offer topic ideas that can help shed light on new trends/areas of alumni engagement. Guidance from industry professionals is extremely helpful for us in our effort to provide these presentations.
We are excited about what has transpired thus far and what is to come with the 2009 AAS Engagment Web Series. We hope that you will participate and contribute your ideas and feedback on topics that can make a difference to advancement professionals.
